Joy in simple things
Joy is a simple yet wonderful word. It is short yet expresses so much. It is filled with happy thoughts and a great sense of satisfaction. I find joy in many things every day. I am an early riser and mornings are always my first joy of the day. I like to start my day before my family gets up. I like to spend some quiet time in the morning to plan my day and to reflect on the opportunities that lie ahead. As I start coffee, I think about the meal I will serve in the evening when we all come home from work. My immediate family is small as there is only three of us (well, four with my dog). I make a quick breakfast for all during the week since our work sends us all in different directions. As soon as coffee and breakfast is ready, its time for my third morning joy: a quick walk with my dog. We do not go far, but far enough to take in the morning and watch the day unfold.
Mornings are peaceful, productive, and joyful for me. My family is the center of my life and the reason why I get up every day. Cooking, walking, and enjoying the simple things that come with the morning fill my days with gratitude. I like to take my time as I go through my morning routines because once I leave the house, the pace of my day changes. The simple things in life and the routines that we establish for ourselves and our families will bring us many reasons to smile and be grateful.
